The Congress topics cover the main socially scientificant diseases namely: Oncology, Surgery, Cardiology, Diabetes, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Varia. The participants in the roundtable discussed the most actual aspects of the organization and different models of funding of the healthcare systems of the member countries. The Congress days were complemented by dialogues on the medical science and practice in South Europe, on the development and improvement of the organization and the particularities of the countries health policies.

The forum was attended by over 270 participants from 16 countries from Bulgaria, Ukraine, Georgia, Belarus, Macedonia, Greece, Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kazakhstan, Germany, Switzerland and etc. 60 distinguished lecturers presented their scientific reports and medical findings and over 80 participants published their scientific abstracts in the Congress book. The Congress was granted with 16 CME credits by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education.

Within the framework of the event, a meeting of the SEEMF Board was held and structural and organizational issues were discussed. Unanimously, with the votes of all Board’s members Assoc. Prof. Andrei Kehayov – Bulgaria was re-elected as President of the organization with a mandate of 5 years. Two of the current Vice Presidents and the Secretary-General have retained their positions, and Professor Gia Lobazanidze of Georgia was elected a third vice-president. Six new members were nominated on the board, including Prof. Stanislav Schnitko and Assoc. Prof. Tatjana Terekovic from Belarus, Dr Maya Boskovic from Serbia, Assoc. Prof. Todor Cherkezov from Bulgaria, Dr. Zazza Khachiperadze from Georgia and Dr. Alexandros Dunavis from Greece. The Board approved the traditional award nominations in the field of medicine and public health development. Dr Alexandros Dunavis,MD, PhD Greece was awarded an Outsanding physician of Southeastern Europe, and Mr. Demetrios Capsalis, Mayor of Penteli Municipality, Greece, was awarded for contribution to public health and social welfare.

Acad. Bogdan Petrunov – Bulgaria, Prof. Lachezar Traykov – Bulgaria and Prof.Andrea Papadia – Switzerland were awarded for contribution to the development of medical science and SEEMF’s activities. Assoc. Prof. Dzhevdet Chakarov, Bulgaria, Eng. Elena Zaharieva – Bulgaria and Sinisa Markovic – Serbia were honored for contribution to the development of SEEMF. The Faculty of Military Medicine at the Belarusian State Medical University, Minsk Belarus was awarded for its contribution to the development of medical science and to SEEMF activities.
