In the period 23-24.02.2019 in Belgrade, Republic of Serbia an international medical conference was held. Upon a personal invitation of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Serbian Medical Chamber – Dr. Milan Dinic, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Andrey Kehayov – President of the Southeast European Medical Forum(SEEMF) was the Bulgarian participant on the event.
The Presidents of the Medical Chambers of Northern Macedonia, Slovenia, Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia and the Presidents of the Medical Associations and SEEMF Board members – Dr. Alexander Mugosa – Montenegro, Dr. Fatmir Brahimaj – Albania were part of the conference’s participants.
The agenda of the Conference was divided into two panels and included topics on some of the most up-to-date issues for the region – the constantly growing migration of doctors from the Southeast European region and the system of pharmacovigilance in Serbia and the activities of the healthcare professionals.
A report on “The Migration Prosses of Healthcare Professionals and its impact over the Healthcare System of Bulgaria” with current statistics on the number of migrants from different health care specialties and professionals, its negative impact on the healthcare system of the country and the urgent requirements for the creation of an effective health policies to prevent “brain drain” from Bulgaria was presented by Assoc. Prof. Andrey Kehayov.
Assoc. Prof. A. Kehayov presented before the participants the program and the organizational activities of the forthcoming 10th Jubilee International Medical Congress of the SEEMF, which will be held from 5th – to 8th of September 2019 in Sofia, Bulgaria, as well as SEEMF’s contribution to the development of the international cooperation and exchange of experience between the Southeast European physicians.
